From the first working student in software development to a manager: Moritz's career at Local Brand X stands for growth from within. In conversation, he talks about what drives him, what he has learned and what he is particularly looking forward to in his new role.
How long have you been with Local Brand X and what were your most important stations here?
I started in 2018 during my studies, as a 450€ jobber for the first time. Shortly after that, I continued as a working student and after my studies, I was finally taken on full-time. As a result, I was able to gain more and more experience, received strong support to improve myself and was then able to develop myself further and further.
What attracted you to LBX back then?
I really wanted to gain more experience in software development during my studies. When I stumbled across the job advertisement from the very new company back then, it immediately appealed to me. The atmosphere was super relaxed and I was able to integrate quickly and easily.
What skills have you gained over the years in particular?
In any case, the ability to solve complex problems using the simplest possible approaches was enormously promoted here. And I've also learned not to get so stressed out in hectic times - that's how you get back to calmer waters better and faster in the end.
What do you particularly appreciate about your team?
The team is great & everyone is actively trying to work on the best solutions. Implementations are also scrutinized and not simply implemented - this is how we come up with good solutions together.
What motivates you to get up in the morning for Local Brand X in the long term?
The VERY special:P nice colleagues, especially Mirja, of course;) Otherwise, there are always exciting tasks here, you definitely won't get bored. It is also exciting that you can actively participate in processes & feedback is taken seriously and noticed.
Is there a small anecdote from your early days at LBX?
Right at the beginning, the company parties were often still during the week. The next working day was a bit different now and then & at noon there was already a huge pile of cheeseburgers waiting for lunch. Especially as a student, the parties were always exciting because you really only saw or got to know some colleagues from the company who were still studying at the parties through different working hours and without the monthly update meeting.
About the new role: What are you most excited about in your new role?
In addition to traditional development work, I am really looking forward to facing other responsibilities and getting involved in new topics. This is now a completely new area for me, in which I am sure I will learn a lot, but will also be able to make a difference and help shape a lot at the same time.
In particular, my tasks include resolving daily problems so that the team can work efficiently. We will also accompany code reviews and keep an eye on technical quality.
How would you like to develop or support your team?
The team should contribute to design or even code review, so that we can further develop and reduce all dependencies.
