From keyboard to web developer: Ronny's journey into the IT sector

Yannik Bockius

CEO

Local Brand X: Hi Ronny, thanks for taking your time today. Can you briefly introduce yourself?

Ronny: Hi, I'm Ronny, I'm 33 years old and I work at Local Brand X as a software developer. I've been working in the field for about 10 years now and had already programmed as a hobby before that.

Local Brand X: What exactly do you do at Local Brand X and what does a typical working day look like for you?

Ronny: I am a web developer and program the Local Brand X marketing portal. My working days are generally relatively flexible. It always depends on what's coming in. Sometimes there are small bug fixes, i.e. bug fixes and otherwise many new features and modules, that we develop for our customers. I particularly enjoy the new things that challenge me and where I learn new things.

Local Brand X: You said that you had been programming for a long time. Did you always know that you wanted to go into IT?

Ronny: It was actually more of my second choice. I originally wanted to study music because I used to play the keyboard and wanted to develop myself there. But then I found my way into the IT world through my father. He had a small PC shop and also programmed websites on the side. That's when I was able to try that a bit and learn more and more. At some point, he simply handed me a book and said “Here, if you feel like it, read in.” That's how it was created.

Local Brand X: You've been with Local Brand X for about half a year now, how did you get started? Is it as you imagined?

Ronny: Getting started was relatively easy for me, as I already knew some of the guys here from before. I was well received here and was given a lot of support, especially at the beginning, to help me find my way around. It was a really good and relaxed start.

Local Brand X: How would you describe the working atmosphere at Local Brand X?

Ronny: Fairly relaxed and open. We have a good relationship here and everyone helps each other.

Local Brand X: We're happy about that, of course. Is there something you would also like to share with our future applicants?

Ronny: It's best to be open and relaxed and don't get too focused on anything, and it'll work out.

Local Brand X: Very good! Thank you for the interview and good luck with Local Brand X.
