Hi Dani, thanks for taking the time to do the interview today. Can you briefly introduce yourself at the beginning?
Hello, as I said, I am Dani, I am 25 years old and have been with Local Brand X for almost exactly 2 years now. I am currently still studying my master's degree in corporate communications and will complete my studies in the next few weeks.
You said you've already been with Local Brand X for 2 years, what prompted you to join us?
I started looking for a working student position relatively at the beginning of my studies in Mainz and then became aware of the advertisement for online editing and content production and finally applied there. The position was right from the start and that's why I ended up staying.
What does a typical working day look like for you, which areas do you take care of?
At Local Brand X, I mainly handle the online magazine and learning center area, but have also written texts for the website or worked on various media collaborations and articles and created white papers. And I also do smaller SEO analyses and prepare our texts so that they can be found by search engines like Google and that we achieve better search results. However, I will soon finish my master's degree and will then start working for Local Brand X in April and will then also focus more on tasks in online marketing and get to know other new areas.
In your opinion, what makes Local Brand X unique and why did you decide to stay?
What is very special about Local Brand X for me is that we have very flat hierarchies. In my working student position, I worked a lot with Yannik, our managing director, right from the start and got to know the whole team relatively quickly, although I was and am working from home a lot. Working from anywhere has given me a great deal of flexibility. For me during my studies, but even now in the future, it was simply the perfect job that adapts flexibly to my life situation. As a student, it was always very important to me, for example, to be able to travel to my parents for a week and generally arrange my working hours flexibly.
You come to the communications sector - what is it like for you to work in the tech sector?
In fact, it took me a bit of time to get used to this whole topic: local marketing platform, marketing portal or software-as-a-service. I study corporate communications and have relatively little else to do with IT. In the beginning, all these terms were simply terms for me. But it's also a lot of fun to think of a new topic and over time, I've come to it more and more. I can now do much more with technical details such as APIs or deployment processes than I might have thought 2 years ago. But in general, it is also not my first job in the tech sector - I find the industry super exciting because it is also very future-oriented, develops quickly and as a result, new tasks and fields of activity are constantly being added.
What was your best experience with Local Brand X so far?
Since I work from home a lot, I didn't have as much personal contact with colleagues right from the start. But especially in the period before Corona, this was promoted quite well by the many team events, joint meals, Christmas parties and other small activities. Even though I wasn't in the office often, I had the feeling that I had arrived at the team very quickly. One of the best experiences was definitely my first team event. We enjoyed the sunset with a few glasses of wine on a boat trip on the Rhine and then moved on. That was very nice and I hope that we can do more together again soon.
We hope so too. Thank you for the interview and good luck and fun in your new job.
