The brain behind the dynamic templates: Jonas joining Local Brand X

Hello Jonas! Thanks for taking the time for this interview. Can you briefly introduce yourself?

Yes, I'm Jonas, I'm 31 years old and I'm from Mainz Gonsenheim. I trained as a media designer and then did three years of further training as a media technician alongside my job. That's kind of like the master carpenter, but for media designers. After I successfully completed that, I did further training to become a trainer and was also a trainer for the new media designers in my old company.

And what do you do now at Local Brand X? What does your day-to-day work look like here?

I create all the templates for the customers. That means that when I create new templates, I receive prefabricated data from Corporate Design, where everything is already designed, and the customer sends me a PDF that specifies exactly which parts can be customized. In other words, what the whole thing should look like and whether the customer can type in his name, for example, or whether it should already be preset. I then build the whole thing and make it available in the portal and for the project managers to test. In addition to new templates, I also adapt old templates and add things. The whole thing applies to both the print templates and the customizable videos.

You've been with us for half a year now - can you give a short review of how things have been going for you?

Yes, of course, in the beginning everything was new to me. Before that, I had nothing to do with creating templates. Up to that point, I had mainly used and designed InDesign. I was already very technically inclined and had worked with various Excel workflows, but templates were new to me. However, I was able to find my way around and was very well supported and welcomed by my colleagues. I was taught a lot during my time here, shown a lot and I always have someone I can ask.

That all sounds very positive, what do you enjoy most about Local Brand X?

One of the reasons I switched was the working hours. They are very regulated at Local Brand X, which was not the case at the agency before. What I also really like here is the distribution of work, i.e. the ticket system. This gives you a very good overview of what you have to do during the day and by when something has to be finished. This way I can organize my work very well and always know exactly what my "to dos" are.

After your first impression of the company, how would you describe Local Brand X in three words?

I would say: flexible, structured, fun.

And last but not least, who do you think should apply to Local Brand X?

Everyone (laughs). I would say anyone who enjoys working for a rather small - well, we're almost not that small anymore, but in contrast to other companies - company.  That also has its own dynamic. I also came from a relatively large company, and it's somehow more pleasant and personal here. People who enjoy a young team, who are looking for a challenge and want something new should apply. Even people who are not yet deeply involved in topics such as marketing portals or templates will find their way in.
