Bidirectional refers to a particular form of data transfer that can occur in both directions and takes place from point to point. Two-way connections use two channels to convey information between the sender and the receiver: the forward and reverse channels.
The roles transmitter and receiver change with a bidirectional connection, depending on which side the signal sends out and who receives it. Interfaces play a major role in bidirectional connections, as they make the connection between systems and devices possible in the form of interfaces.
